First Time Cruising Was Great! by

There was not a country music band playing
First Time Cruising Was Great!
This was my first cruise and I will say I was a bit nervous. However, this was my husband's 16th cruise so he really helped me. This was his first cruise with just his spouse. The cruise was absolutely amazing. I got to experience it all on my first cruise, riding the tenders and all the excitement. Also experiencing a storm at Cayman Islands and the wind blowing. Made the ship rock and roll. But it was great. The entertainers made the bad weather all better. I did however get sunburned on the first day at sea even though I used sunscreen. The last day at sea was absolutely the best. We won at bingo and also won the auction and some scratch off tickets so we had paid $250.00 for the items in the auction but after we won at bingo and the scratch off tickets the auction items only cost us $2.00. How great was that!!! Wonderful time.
Ship Quality
Dining/Food The waiters in the Chic Dining Room were exceptional. We had a great time at dinner each night.
Stateroom Quality Romm cleaniness was exceptional.
Ship Staff Quality Everyone was very friendly and helpful.
Entertainment & Activities Entertainment was great. Wish there had been a country music band.

A cruise to remember by
A Traveler from Lake Elsinore, Calif
Sailing date: Sep 2009 Pros:
Staff and food
Cons:
Art Auction
The ship was beautiful. The staff were all great and very helpful. I haven't been on Carnival in many years and found it to be among my favorite now.
Ship Quality the only issue was a hard time getting to the dinnine area on the 3rd floor. You had to go the the 5th floor and walk all the way to the bafc and take the elevator down which caused a lot of congestion in tat area.
Dining/Food The dining was great. Very pleased with the staff and the food and menus. Did hear that Carnival is planning on going to freestyle dinning. We experienced this on the Norweign line and were not happy at all with it.
Stateroom Quality Was larger then most and very comfortable
Ship Staff Quality Were all very helpful and friendly
Entertainment & Activities The shows were very good. Did not have much of daytime activities.

Great Service by
Kimberly S from West Palm Beach, FL
Sailing date: Sep 2009 Pros:
The service
Cons:
The food and boat layout
Was not impressed with this ship at all, older, the layot had no flow, the food was horrible. The one thing I can say was that the service was outstanding.
Ship Quality Older ship, decor looked like a 70's ship, was very clean
Dining/Food Horrible food, no flavor and the quality was poor. Dinning times were fine and the wait staff went above and beyond
Stateroom Quality Average, rooms were very small. But that is to be expected on a cruise.
Ship Staff Quality Outstanding service. Everyone know our name and always made sure you were taking care of.
Entertainment & Activities Was fair, typical shows and entertainment.

Best Carnival Cruise by
Susan Neville from Orlando, FL
Sailing date: Sep 2009 Pros:
The Staff was great, friendly helpful, polite, couldn't ask for anything they couldn't provide!!!!!!!
Cons:
Nothing
The ship was immaculate and the decor was great. I loved all the vibrant colors that were used. Easy to get around. Plenty of tables on the Lido Deck and Buffet Area. Our dining room staff was the best I have ever had on a cruise ship and we cruise alot. They remembered our first names after only one dinner and didn't return to the dinner until two days later and they remember our names. They were attentive, but no over the top. Anything we needed it was there.
Ship Quality Ship was great!!!!!
Dining/Food Dining Staff was incredible!!!!!!! Food always came out hot, we just thought there should have been more variety to chose from. Dining times were perfect. Should have more specialt restaurants, one isn't enough.
Stateroom Quality Stateroom could have been a little bigger for three people, but we managed. They need a clock in the room. They need hair conditioner in the shower and better quality shampoo. Location of my stateroom was convenient to everything and quiet. We were on the 10th deck.
Ship Staff Quality Can't say anything more than everyone went above and beyond!!!!!
Entertainment & Activities Shows were great!!!! Comedian needs a little help.

An amazing and memorable cruise by
Greg S from Pennsylvania
Sailing date: Jul 2009 Pros:
The ship, the food, the islands
Cons:
Nothing really sticks out, probably the embarkation process
This cruise was my eleventh cruise, my eighth with Carnival. I had some apprehension boarding this ship from reading some negative reviews. However, I never should have, and should have listened to the more positive ones instead. The embarkation process was probably the one inconvenient aspect of our 8 day cruise. Fort Lauderdale needs to overhaul that terminal. There were long lines that made you feel like you were waiting for a roller coaster. But this is not Carnival's fault, but Carnival should remove their ships from that port. Anyway there were 15 of us on a 8 day cruise to San Juan, Puerto Rico; St. Thomas; Antigua; Tortola; and Nassau, Bahamas. This ship was beautiful. Definitely not the most beautiful ship I have sailed on, but people on different reviews kept saying how ugly the ship was. The ship was different, and I found it had an elegance of it's own and was very detailed and innovative. We had a balcony on the verandah deck, and loved it. Great room stewards. There were unlimited quantities and selections of food. Have absolutely no complaints on the food. The Lido restaurant offered a huge variety of food from Tandori, mexican, a deli, a stir-fry station, fish and chips station, a taste of the nations, a grille, and a 24 hour pizzeria and 24 hour soft serve ice cream. If you can try it all go for it!! There may be one thing you don't care for, but thats the point of crusing! Try new and exotic food. We dined in the Posh restaurant. Amazing and almost flawless. Every meal we had was delicious. The only thing was our appetizers were sometimes room temperature, as the waiters would wait for all 15 of us to receive our appetizer so we could dine at the same time. But I would just sometimes ask for a new one and was brought one within five minutes. Also make sure you try the sushi bar on the promenade deck. Its open from 5-830. Entertainment was spectacular. Don't miss the shows in the Victoriana lounge and the international lounge. The adult shows and comedy shows are hysterical! The club was good for all ages. Before one its a more diverse crowd and from one to 4 am are the 18-30 year olds. The dj could use more training in choosing good music for a club though. During says at sea there is so much to do. Three pools, waterslide, mini golf, basketball and volleyball, game shows, shows by the pool, the spa and the gym, and a jogging track. Not to mention just laying out and getting a tan. There are also great deck parties at night some nights. The crew was great on this ship, however you do encounter the occasional snippy one. However you can't let it bother you. They work extremely long days for months on end, however if it truly bothers you, report them. Carnival insists that their staff be as friendly and as approachable as possible. If you have kids make sure they do the Camp Carnival which caters to kids up to ten or eleven. Also club O2 for 15-17 is real good with a dance club of their own. It did seem like the 11-14 year olds which is called circle c was left out without a real place to go, but they still had constant activities and on the new Carnival Dream, there is an actual club for circle c. The itinerary was spectacular. All islands are beautiful and great. Tortola was my favorite, the snorkeling is unbelievable. Puerto Rico has an awkward timing-5-12. but we just want to senor frog's a bar/restaurant. Amazing time. if you enjoy to party and drink go to this place. So fun! All islands are 18 to drink so our group of 18 and 19 year olds had a blast unfortunately ;) Disembarkation was very smooth. All in all book an 8 day cruise on the Carnival Freedom. Amazing ship and an amazing time.
Ship Quality Gorgeous and well designed. Attention to detail is phenomenal. However the lobby deck(deck 3) is a bit awkward since you can not walk the whole length of the ship since the galley separates the two dining rooms. Ship is very large and very clean.
Dining/Food Just wonderful. I truly believe out of all the cruise lines i have sailed on, Carnival has the best food.
Stateroom Quality Large and well-decorated. Balcony adds the perfect extra to it. However, the stewards could do a tad better straightening up.
Ship Staff Quality Exceptional with the exception of a small handful, most notably the bartenders. The dining room staff is just unbelievable. Friendly, personal, and the kids love them!
Entertainment & Activities Never bored. Our friend of 60 did complain that other than the club there was nothing to do after 2 AM and i was like what do you expect? Shows that early? But the shows and performers were great, and the variety was so great. Every day and every night, from newlywed games, game shows, trivia, las vegas shows, comedies, musicals, and everything in between was abundant.
Children's Programs Well designed and very helpful. Kids had a blast. I do believe Carnival has the best kids programs behind Disney. However, if your children have late seating as we did, your children will miss out on some fun activities as Camp Carnival revolves around the early seating.

Best Cruise yet by
Marilyn C from Woodstock, Ga
Sailing date: Jun 2009 Pros:
The ship
Cons:
the liquor shop
The stateroom and bathroom were much bigger than other ships. Everyone was REALLY nice and helpful. My husband is a picky eater and he was really pleased - YEAH. All events were carefully explained and convenient.
Ship Quality
Dining/Food
Stateroom Quality
Ship Staff Quality Loved all the people especially Arnold our waiter and Alec the bartender we saw a lot.
Entertainment & Activities Only missed one show. Activities were clearly explained.
Children's Programs We do not have any children with us, but the staff kept the 950 on board very busy and happy and out of the way.
Collapse List of Ports
Belize City, Belize We did not leave the port shopping area. I heard the snorkling was fun and the other trips were good. 4 years ago we had visited the Mayan ruins from this port on another cruise and found that very interesting.
Colon, Panama The Panama Canal is interesting. We saw a ship going through it. Portobello is dirty.
Puerto Limon, Costa Rica We have been on the west coast of Costa Rica and it is much cleaner and prettier.
