A Good Value Cruise by
Stan N. from St. Paul, MN
Sailing date: Aug 2009 Pros:
Activities for All Ages
Cons:
Mediocre Food
I was initially very overwhelmed by the size of the ship. I was surprised at the small pool area given the number of kids on the ship.

First Cruise by
Kim and Jim from San Diego, CA
Sailing date: Sep 2009 Pros:
Spa, food, shore excursion
Cons:
Lots of loud late 20 somethings
The ship was clean, always saw someone cleaning. Crew and staff were very polite, always recognizing people that they had seen before, and mentioning names if they had met you. Food in the dining room was very good, wide selection, great desserts.
Ship Quality
Dining/Food Enjoyed the dining room exeperieince. Our waiter Eddie and his helper Romeo were both freindly and helpful. After I ordered iced tea at the first meal, they had it for me every time. We bought the wine package, three bottles for a discount, and the wine was good, but probably too much for the two of us. We shared with another couple on the last night.
Stateroom Quality Bigger than we thought it would be. bed was comfortable, room was clean. I asked for a hair dryer and it was brought within 5 minutes.
Ship Staff Quality
Entertainment & Activities Lloyd at the piano bar, Dukes, was great fun, and had the whole room singing along. The show was a bit cheesy, but the main singers were very good.

There should be more activities for the kids.
All the staff was really nice and the service was great. We enjoyed the shows, food and the service in the state rooms.
Ship Quality The ship was beautiful in and out.
Dining/Food The food was great and service as well
Stateroom Quality We had four people in our room and everyone was comvertable. Location was great.
Ship Staff Quality staff was great. Loved the service.
Entertainment & Activities We enjoyed the shows.
Children's Programs My daughter is 14 and there was not much for her to do in the kids lounge. It was a really small area for the amout of kids they had in there.

We where elated to be on the elation by
Debra & Ray Hicks from San Diego, CA
Sailing date: Jul 2009 Pros:
All the open bar areas
Cons:
No thermostat
This was our first carinaval cruise. San Diego to Catalina Island and Enesenda. We had an outside cabin on the Riveria deck. Plenty of bath towels. Towels animals where adorable. Free movies 3 different ones everyday. The adult only deck area was really nice. The loungers had cushioned pads. There was a sun area and a shaded area. 2 hot tubs and an outdoor shower. You where able to get towels right there using your sail and sign card. Overall I can't wait to go again
Ship Quality There was always someone cleaning windows, floors, etc. After one day you get familiar with the layout and find the shortcuts.
For an older ship it was in very good condition.
Dining/Food I don't think there where any specialty dining rooms where you had to pay extra. Which was really nice. All the food was free. The coffee bar was the exception. Food was good. If you had late dining and wanted to eat earlier just go to your designated dining room and let them know your hungry now and they will find you a seat. We didn't think we would like seating with other people, but it was very nice to meet others. It got us out of our shell.
Stateroom Quality Having an actual thermostat would have been great. What controlled the A/C was a knob on the ceiling vent to open and close how cold you wanted to be. It was hard to find the perfect vent control not to be too cold or too warm.
The bathroom was a nice size plenty of room. Shower was big, nice to see a medicine cabinet to put our bath items in instead of cluttering up the counter.
The bed was fairly comfy, we asked our steward on the 2nd night to put a down comforter between the mattress and sheet to make it softer, it was great then. Slept really good. Plenty of closet space and hangers. It would have been nice to have a fridge though. Our room was always clean.
Ship Staff Quality The entire staff on the elation where very helpful and polite.
The servers at the pool where not pushy about buying drinks, that was refreshing, not to be hounded to buy, buy, buy.
Entertainment & Activities There are so many bars/open areas to drink and the cigar bar was my favorite place. Many indoor areas to smoke in. Yes, there are a few of us left who still enjoy smoking a cigar or cigarettes. Entertainment I heard was good, but the shows where late at night 10:30/11:30. I know it's not that late, but coming back from shore excursions, hot and tired too many cocktails, etc. It's easy to go to bed by 10 p.m. Casino was nice. Really enjoyed all the areas of the ship. The show room was super large and very comfy seating.
Collapse List of Ports
Ensenada, Mexico It was OK. The city tour and shopping was not worth the money. The wine tour was a joke. You could take a taxi for a 1.00 to the town and do your own thing
Catalina Island, California Wish we could have stayed longer. It took forever to get off the ship because the tenders only held about 40 people per trip.

Crapy Cruse by
Lawrence S from San Diego, CA
Sailing date: Jul 2009 Pros:
Nothing poor service
Cons:
Terible comunication
This is the second time I have been on a cruse and I rate Carnaval as the bottom of the barrel.
Our food was below par our off shore excursion was canceled without notifing us, they changed the date of our cruse, what more can I say other than I would not recomend Carnaval.

Very enjoyable by
Joseph L. from Vancouver B.C.
Sailing date: Jul 2009 Pros:
All was good
Cons:
We had a noise problem throughout the nite due to partying neighbors.
The age group was not suitable for us. This would be a consideration for us on future cruises.

Cons:
kids running in the halls where the cabins are.
the ship and crew were great. One problem, kids were running up and down cabin halls all the time, security or an announcement needs to be made, I have kids and no way would i allow this behavior.
